CADAVID

"on all sides of the pond is raining

white petals"

BASH Part of the collection A BOOK BY CENTS, Volume 44, is titled Silent Music . The author, Jorge Cadavid, was born Pamplona (1962); "apprentice naturalist and entomologist, is assumed as a poet and essayist, also a professor of literature at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Also became Doctor of Philosophy in Seville (Spain) and so far has published seven books.

But there is something that appeals beyond their laurels, as the National Poetry Award Eduardo Cote Lamus in 2003 by Stationary Flight (Universidad Nacional, 2003) or perhaps by Treaty Heaven for Young Poets, with which received the National Prize for Poetry from Antioch University in 2008.

This attractive edition is derived from the the book itself, a beautiful specimen that as noted by the editor: "(...) aims at wide dissemination of the most renowned poets in the national and international promotion of new values \u200b\u200bof gender Colombians." This is achieved even in part, because the booklet is distributed, in theory, to subscribers of the magazine The Malpensante .

Although the initiative comes from the External University of Colombia, for random reasons the book has arrived, in practice - to my domains. And in the eyes of the reader, who would like to share some verses:

MIMESIS

inhabited Things
Just the words naming

To see them moving.

This suggests the possibility of creating and re-create and imagine with the language, as the art of the word is much more than simple representation of external reality, mimesis, according to Aristotelian poetics. Poetry is based on the symbolic level in terms of the mysterious, sometimes ineffable, not in the literal and denotative.

striking the act of writing poems with themes of Entomology and Botany. Although the book is not an herbal or a red dragonfly taxonomic text crossed with a metal, drowning in formaldehyde, not a scientific concept is raised to the language poetic.

not trapped in the conceptual definition found in dictionaries and encyclopaedias, or on the task ahead in these lands, for example, Alexander Von Humboldt and Jose Celestino Mutis, and others in the Botanical Expedition, nearly two centuries ago. But I will not smuggle the texts transcribed so for those who read silently: CHRYSANTHEMUMS

(Chrysanthemum silence)
not talk about anything. Long silences

Fill the talk
of unspeakable whiteness. Perhaps

above, the back of the little book is expressed in a comment by Colombian writer Giovanni Quessep, who states that "(...) the oriental air, the clarity of his verse, I am convinced that the new Colombian poetry on very safe going upward." I agree with oriental atmosphere, since the value of poetry lies perhaps in doubt certainly, in the breakdown of the calm, also in the deep sense of what may or may not happen: the uncertainty.

Although, if we return to the Eastern tradition, found in the Haiku, the ability to validate the sensitivity, the wonder, a tribute to silence, to the extreme brevity and condensation, the conundrum. Basho (1644-1694) master of Haiku, recommended to his disciples "to give life to the inanimate." So when one of them wrote: "red dragonflies! / Take away the wings / And be peppers, "the teacher, with a hint of nostalgia suggested that disrupted, thus:" These peppers / Add in wings / And will dragonflies. " This example is appropriate to highlight the intended brevity and quickening of the verses that make up the essence of poetic presence of the book Silent Music . Or if not let us read:

FUNGI (Fungi Imperfecti)
The fungus digests the world
With own pace.
is the life that follows death

and rightly so be.
The decay of a night is actually

manufacture of a new day.

death is draining life. Spiral of existence, labyrinth of time where it is necessary to re-encounter lost. Condition vain, ephemeral, unfathomable, removable and Desfondada: here the feeling of living is part of the dead, and vice versa.

I would not leave without scoring a poem more, and poke some other titles for the curious and restless, as the insect between hum, try to find the sap drunk the blood of the verse. Here are some headlines: Tree restless; The way of withering tulips; Psychoanalysis Moss, The taste of the real, from the wandering of the trees; Odyssey insect, lichen, Lapsus ... among others, for example:

IN THE SHADOW OF CHERRY

The shadows are always
No company stands alone
With its shadows.
