Bolívar Echeverría
saw twice in my life. The first, in Pittsburgh, at a conference on modernity. Bolivar remember dazzled everyone with his great text "The religion of the modern" gathered in conference proceedings, titled Border modernity. With a tremendous intelligence, Echeverria was able to explain in the papers the intelligence of the pose, the truth of the fraud. I remember talking to Carlos Pereda, remarking with a smile on your face the presentation of a star of the American Academy. The second occasion was a tribute to Carlos Monsivais in UACM two years ago. There, Bolívar Chair gave a brilliant reading of Exile Edmundo O'Gorman shadows.
These images I came to regret as Bolívar was honored at the auditorium of XXI century editorial last Tuesday. Before an audience filled with people steps and terraces, their students, colleagues, family and colleagues on the left showed an image beloved of Bolívar Echeverría, a man so erudite and warm, a beloved teacher and philosopher of the first order. The loss is incalculable Bolivar philosophy without adjectives, Latin America and the international Marxism. Without Bolívar, our attempts to resist the vortex core lost an ally and a thinker without parallel. I agree with the tone of the tribute. Our best tribute to the work of Bolivar is helping to disseminate, discuss, study, translate and keep alive their spirit of resistance and fidelity to Marxism Today, under the double disaster of financial capitalism and corporatism energy is more effective and more important than ever.
